e-Comm Brochure

Here is the cover I made for the brochure about e-comm. I used a film strip to symbolize video and the strands of video within it. I used a color wheel for graphic design to show how color is a main design element in graphic design. I used a we address bar for web design to show that it has to do with the internet and making websites and designing them. Animation is represented through the model of  a person walking because animation makes things move.

Logo

This Is my personal logo. This logo has representation through the colors because it is bright and summery. The M is made up of broken pieces that came together because a big idea that I believe in is that even if your experiences are tough and break you up a little bit, you can always get back up and it makes you who you are.

Here are some of the art boards I made in the process of creating this logo.

Kerning

Kerning is when someone adjusts the space between letters or characters in a piece of text to be printed. When someone gets a well kerned font, the two dimensional spaces between each  pair of characters all have a visual similar area. The word "kern" refers to a part of a type letter that overhangs the edge of the type block. About 15% of the time the kerning is bad and needs to be adjusted to be visually appealing. Proper kerning is very important in making a design look professional.

e-magine

The video that really got my attention was Matti Karr's short film-The wall. It was very creative and well done. It had great shots and and different angles that I probably would not have thought to do. All of the lighting and audio was also great. It was  overall very entertaining and nicely done.

The Graphic that really impressed me was the soldier's portrait. It was very meaningful and had a great design that was creative. It was a typography piece so the way he incorporated the text was very nice. The design was made very well too. It looked very professional.

E-magine was very fun to go see. I saw a lot of other great work too. It was inspiring to see all of these really great creations. Getting to look at what everyone has a passion for is a really cool experience and I can't wait for the next one.

Soldier's Portrait

The Peter Pan poster is my poster, the wizard of oz poster is someone else's Saul Bass inspired poster, and the one, two, three poster is one of Saul Bass's actual posters. They all of have similarities but they are all unique in their own way. The most noticeable similarity is the use of simple shapes to keep a more simple design. Another thing they all have in common is that there were not very many colors used in all of these posters. One way that Saul Bass's poster is different from the Saul bass inspired ones is that his have a more rustic and antique feel while the other two are brighter and more modernized. They all have an awesome design that help tell the story and entice the viewer.

Google Logo

Google has had various logos but the current logo was designed by Ruth Kedar. Kedar made it based on the catull typeface. Google also has some modifications such as cartoons and different designs on holidays and events such as the olympics and presidents day. Some of those were made by people such as Dennis Hwang. These fun images are can be referred to as Google Doodles. Kids in grades k-12 can compete and make their own doodles where people vote on the winner. These competitions are called Doodle4Google. On September 19th, 2013 google unveiled a new logo that looked flat and had an altered color palette to the previous logo. This is the logo used currently.
